Performing an Upgrade

To upgrade Mount BDS manually, follow the steps below. Some updates may require steps in addition to the standard upgrade steps provided below.

Make a Full Backup (CI and Public_HTML Directory - We cannot stress enough how important it is to *always* take a full backup before attempting any kind of upgrade. A full backup should be taken of both the files and the database.

Performing Major Type Upgrade :

Major type upgrades are ones where you are using an outdated version of the script. For example, Your current version of the script is 1.X and the latest version is greater than 2.X, Then you will have to follow the below steps or go to Performing Minor Type Upgrade.

  1. Begin by obtaining the latest full release download of Mount BDS from your client portal.
  2. Upload the .zip file to the server home directory (Usually /home/YOUR_CPANEL_USERNAME/ - One directory behind the public_html folder)
  3. Extract the .zip files to a temporary folder in the same directory.
  4. Now take a backup of your template files. Below are the template files that you should backup. In order to replace them after the upgrade process. These folders usually contain the design for your website.
    • public_html/layout/frontend
    • public_html/layout/members
    • public_html/layout/templates
    • CI/views
  5. Copy the new files (CI and public_html) from the temporary folder to the home directory (Usually /home/YOUR_CPANEL_USERNAME/ - One directory behind the public_html folder) replacing files and folders.
  6. Rename the configuration_new.php inside public_html folder and dbconfig_new.php inside CI/application/config folder to  configuration.php and dbconfig.php. Insert the database and configuration values into the new files from your backed up file.
  7. Moving to the database part, Simply import all the sql files using phpmyadmin (All file names higher than your current version)
  8. Your upgrade process is complete. Please check the release notes for template based changes and replace them accordingly

Performing Minor Type Upgrade :

Minor type upgrades are ones where you are using the latest version of the script. For example, Your current version of the script is 1.2.1 and the latest version is 1.2.2, Then you will have to follow the below steps.
  1. Begin by obtaining the latest full release download of Mount BDS from your client portal.
  2. Check the release notes and replace the required old files listed in the release notes document with new files from the zip files.
  3. Import any sql file available in the upgraded version.

  1. If there is a patch available, Simply follow the instructions in the read me file to complete the upgrade process.
